CHRU de Tours - Bretonneau
France - ToursThe Tours Reference Centre is located in the Val de Loire region, just 1.5 hours from Paris and Roissy airport. It consists of a multidisciplinary team specializing in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and other Rare Motor Neuron Diseases, and coordinates the French FILSLAN ALS network.
The Reference Centre ensures diagnosis and care coordination, as well as support during the terminal phase of the disease. Between 85 and 100 new cases are diagnosed each year, and around 280 patients are seen every 3 to 6 months in our outpatient clinic for multidisciplinary consultation. Our centre also has one of the 3 molecular biology laboratories coordinating this genetic network, and since early 2024 we have been proposing an NGS test including the 30 main ALS-related genes to all patients at the time of diagnosis.
The Tours reference centre coordinates and participates in research projects (fundamental, clinical, epidemiological) and is developing 2 principal research axes: the identification of ALS susceptibility factors and diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers using a global omics approach. As a member of the TRICALS consortium, our centre is involved in many of the clinical trials conducted by this group.
