Trinity College Dublin
Ireland - DublinThe National ALS service is co-located between the National Neuroscience Centre (Beaumont) and the Academic Unit of Neurology at Trinity College Dublin. The service provides multidisciplinary care to patients across Ireland, and engages in applied clinical research, along with Phase 1,2,3 and 4 clinical trials.
The National ALS clinical service provides full multidisciplinary care to those with ALS/MND across Ireland from diagnosis to end of life, and facilitates in-clinic and home visits. The service supports the national population based Register for ALS/MND, in operation since 1994. The clinical service at Beaumont Hospital is closely aligned with the ALS/MND Research group, at the Academic Unit of Neurology in Trinity College Dublin, enabling high quality clinical and applied ALS research including the international PRECISION ALS project. Both clinical and research programmes are led by Prof Ola Hardiman. The national ALS/MND service is supported by the charity Research Motor Neurone, and works closely with patient support group (Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association). The Irish ALS/MND programme participates in multiple clinical trials, operating at clinical research facilities at Beaumont and St James’s Hospitals, and open to all patients on the island of Ireland.
