France - MarseilleThe Marseille ALS Centre is a reference center for motor neuron diseases. It offers diagnostic evaluation and multidisciplinary follow-up for patients with ALS and other motor neuron diseases. It includes an inpatient unit, a day hospital and outpatient clinics with electrophysiological studies. Patients can participate in clinical research protocols and therapeutic trials.
The Marseille ALS Center has expertise in the management of patients with ALS and other motor neuron diseases, including their diagnostic assessment (clinical expertise, electrophysiological studies, imaging, biological and genetic tests), multidisciplinary monitoring with respiratory assessment, physical medicine, nutritional assessment, and management of disease complications (NIV, gastrostomy, etc.). The center follows approximately 400-500 patients (471 patients followed in 2023 with 178 new patients per year). We participate in several clinical research protocols and therapeutic trials on ALS and motor neuron diseases. Our department participates in approximately 20 therapeutic trials per year and publishes approximately 35 research articles per year. In addition to therapeutic trials, topics of interest in clinical research include imaging, clinical neurophysiology, biological biomarkers, genetics.
