University Medical Centre Ljubljana
Slovenia - LjubljanaThe centre, established in 2002 by Prof. Janez Zidar, includes a core clinical team of neurology consultants, nurses, therapists, and researchers, with 150 ALS patients visiting every three months. Research focuses on ALS neurophysiology and neuroimaging.
The centre was established in 2002 by Prof. Janez Zidar. Its core clinical team consists of six neurology consultants, a team coordinator, a social worker, four specialist nurses, three respiratory therapists, a psychologist and a research coordinator. A larger multidisciplinary team includes a speech therapist, an occupational therapist and dietitian. Around 150 patients with ALS are visiting our centre every three months and we see about 50 new patients with ALS each year. Our main research interests include neurophysiology and neuroimaging of ALS. We have a close research collaboration with Prof. Boris Rogelj (neurobiology) and Prof. Metka Ravnik Glavač (genetics). Our centre hosted the ENCALS meeting in 2017.
