ENCALS 2026 brings together the global ALS research community in Madrid

From 24 to 26 June, researchers from around the world gathered in Madrid for ENCALS 2026, the annual conference of the European Network to Cure ALS (ENCALS). The three-day meeting provides a unique platform for young researchers to present their latest findings, exchange ideas, and build collaborations that drive progress in ALS research. This year, nearly 900 participants from 45 countries attended the conference. One of TRICALS’ biggest highlights of the week was our own TRICALS satellite meeting on Wednesday morning. 

Accelerating ALS research through international collaboration 

ENCALS is a network of ALS centres across Europe dedicated to accelerating research into ALS, PLS, and PSMA. By bringing together scientists, clinicians, and healthcare professionals, the network strengthens international collaboration and helps translate scientific discoveries into better treatments. 

A week of new insights and scientific exchange 

The conference featured dozens of presentations covering a wide range of topics, including genetics, cognition, biomarkers, and emerging therapeutic approaches. More than 400 scientific posters showcased ongoing research projects, while dedicated networking sessions and informal discussions created opportunities to share knowledge and establish new collaborations. 

TRICALS satellite meeting: insights in current and upcoming trial results 

One of TRICALS’ biggest highlights of the week was our own TRICALS satellite meeting. During the satellite meeting a total of 15 of our industry partners presented their trial results from past clinical trials, as well as trial updates from ongoing trials. The meeting was very well attended, with over 180 people in the room. 

As TRICALS, we are proud to contribute to the international effort to accelerate ALS research. We look back on an inspiring week filled with exciting science, promising research findings, and valuable conversations with colleagues from across the globe.
