Alessia Giugno
Neurologist

Dr Alessia Giugno is a a Consultant Neurologist at Center for Neurodegenerative Disease and the Aging Brain of University of Bari “Aldo Moro” at Pia Fondazione “Card. G. Panico” and she is currently a PhD student. Dr. Giugno obtained her medical degree from the University “Aldo Moro” of Bari and graduated with distinction in Neurology at the University “Magna Graecia” of Catanzaro.
During her work at Center for Neurodegenerative Disease and the Aging Brain, she developed a particular interest in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and rare disorders and is involved in the multidisciplinary program on care of subjects with Motor Neuron Disease applying an interdisciplinary approach.
During her work at our ALS Centre, she is leading or participating to observational studies on ALS and FTD. She is involved in International randomized clinical trials as Sub-Investigator.
She also collaborates in several research lines, particularly on neurophysiology and neuroimaging in ALS. She is involved in national and international collaborations, with the aim to identify biomarkers which may support diagnosis and prognosis and may be useful for monitoring the progression of the disease and the efficacy of therapies.
