Nilo Riva

Dr. Nilo Riva, MD, PhD is currently Physician Scientist at the IRCCS Foundation “Carlo Besta” Neurological Institute of Milan. Dr Riva has a broad clinical and translational research background in ALS and neuromuscular diseases and has been involved as physician scientist in several ALS research projects, including clinical and translational studies. Areas of expertise include Clinical and Translational research including neuropathology, genetics and biomarkers, designing and conduction of clinical Trials. Dr Riva’s research focus is the characterization of ALS pathogenic mechanisms by taking advantage of the tissue motor and nerve samples from ALS patients and neuropathic patients as well as rodent models of ALS. Ultimate goal is to contribute, in a translational approach, to the identification of the basic pathogenic mechanisms underpinning ALS, leading to the development of novel therapeutic approaches.
